Beverly Lavonne Tyler Johansen, 91, of Van Horne, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 4, 2022, at the Keystone Care Center. Services will be at the United Methodist Church in Van Horne on Friday July 22. Visitation is from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m., with the service at 10:30 a.m. Those attending are encouraged to wear pink as that was Bev's favorite color.
Bev was born Jan. 15, 1931, in Van Horne, to Perry Cooper and Florence Lavonne (Lyons) Tyler. Graduating from Van Horne High School, She then earned a teaching certification at Iowa State Teachers College (UNI). While teaching in Garrison, Bev met Jack Banse. They were married from Oct. 26, 1950 to 1984. On June 6, 1987, she married Tom Johansen.
She devoted her younger years to raising her children. Later, Bev worked at Benton Community High School in the library from 1976-93.
Bev is survived by her children, Sue (Mark) Jarvi, Steve (Rosie) Banse and Perry (Cindi) Banse; bonus children, Sheri (John) Schulte, Diana (Robert) Christen and Elizabeth (Scott) Johannes; 21 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and sister, Joan (Marv) Yarrow.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom; her parents; her brother, Robert Tyler; and her great-grandson, Porter Ranson.
The family would like to thank the Keystone Care Center for their exceptional staff who loved and cared for Bev.
