Beverly Jean Etzel (Briles)
BEVERLY JEAN ETZEL (BRILES)
Marion
Beverly Jean Etzel (Briles) was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Oct. 7, 1934. She passed away on Saturday March 5, 2022, in her home surrounded by family. She graduated from Roosevelt High School and attended Coe College where she was an Alpha Gamma Delta.
She was married to the love of her life, Robert G. Etzel, on July 3, 1959. While her husband owned and operated Jubilee Lanes, she stayed at home taking care of her five children. She loved her children and had a way of making each of them feel special. Bev always felt like her kids were the smartest and most beautiful in the whole wide world and told them that quite often! Bev and Bob were fortunate enough to buy land right down the street from his parents where they built their dream home where they lived their entire married life, having many stories of how God Blessed them.
Bev is known for her elegance and faithfulness. Faithful to her Lord and Savior throughout her life, sharing the story of Christ to everyone she met, and always dressing like a lady! She loved singing in the choir at her church as well as at the nursing home on Sunday afternoons. She was a member of Victory in Grace and a faithful church goer for over 60 years.
She was a familiar face in a few local cosmetic departments, sharing and demonstrating new products at Younkers, Armstrong's and Von Maur.
She was a memorable cook, known for her potluck favorites where they were the first dishes to be finished, never having any leftovers!
She is survived by her son, Steve Etzel (Teresa); her daughters, Kim Etzel (John), Janine Wagner (Dave) and Maureen Denny; her grandchildren, Robert Diehl, Amy Kurt (Dylan), Gabe Etzel, Courtney Denny, Grace Ulmer (Kenan), Addison Maldonado and Noah Etzel; and two great-grandchildren, plus one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert G. Etzel; her son, Gary Dean Etzel; son-in-law, Brian J. Denny; parents, Ralph and Bertha Briles; and her brother, Ralph Briles Jr.
We know she is rejoicing in heaven. Please leave a message for the family on our web page, www.cedarmemorial.com under obituaries. Memorials may be made to Avalon Hospice in memory of Beverly.
Services: 1p.m. Friday March 11, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, where a visitation will begin at noon until service time. Pastor David Wagner will officiate. Burial will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
