Beverly Billings-Cooley, 89, of Mount Vernon, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at Hallmark Care Center after a long illness.
Beverly was born May 28, 1924, to Harold and Isabella Frandin Moore. She was united in marriage to Donald Billings on Oct. 4, 1942, in Vinton. He passed away in 1964. Beverly was united in marriage to Raymond Cooley in October 1992 in Mount Vernon. He passed away in February 2005.
She was the oldest member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Mount Vernon.
Surviving are her children, Sheila (Tim) Moffett of Lisbon, Christine (Larry) Yancey of Mechanicsville, Sharon (John) Kron of Iowa City, Deanna (Dwayne) Lindsay of Caney, Kan., Laurie (Charles) Ryan of Bumpass, Va., and Duane (Rebekah) Cooley of Marion. Beverly also leaves behind 23 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, and three children, Donna, James and John.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Scobey and Mount Vernon roads, Mount Vernon. Services immediately follow the visitation. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton, with a private family burial.
Memorials in Beverly's honor may be sent to the American Legion Auxiliary-All Vets, c/o Mount Vernon Bank and Trust, 206 First St. SW, Mount Vernon, IA 52314.
