Beverly Vee (Robbins) Bergen, 77, died Saturday, May 23, 2015, following complications from a stroke. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Family Center, 605 Second Ave., Vinton, and will conclude with a brief service at 6 p.m. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Shellsburg.
A memorial fund has been established.
Beverly Vee Robbins was born May 3, 1938, to Albert Claire and Elsie Smith Robbins in Cedar Rapids. Following the death of her mother, Beverly was raised by her father and stepmother, Ethel (Heath) Robbins. She graduated from Shellsburg High School in 1956 and later attended Mount Mercy College and Iowa State Teachers College. Beverly worked as the Shellsburg School secretary and for the office of consumer advocate in Des Moines.
On July 28, 1957, she was united in marriage to Marvin Bergen. The couple later divorced. Beverly enjoyed spending time with her family and attending her grandsons' events.
She is survived by her son, Bruce (Ayme) Bergen of Marion; her daughter, Brenda Vaughan of Elkader; her five grandsons, Justin, Joel, Adam and Colton Bergen and Parker Vaughan. She is also survived by her brothers, Ray (Renne) Robbins of Cedar Rapids and Harry (Lois) Robbins of Lakeville, Minn.; and her sister-in-law, Karen Robbins of Shellsburg.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother and her brother, Alfred Robbins.
