Bevans, Tom 'Kirby'
Tom “Kirby” Bevans, 53, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010, at his home. As per Tom's wishes a private service was held Friday, Feb. 12, and a memorial service will be held in Cedar Rapids as well as a service in August at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements.
Tom was born Dec. 27, 1956, in Minneapolis, the son of Kirby and Joan Osgerby Bevans. He was a graduate of Waterloo East High School in 1975. Kirby was an over-the-road truck driver. He was employed by Bushman Excavating in Cedar Rapids.
Tom is survived by a son, John, of Seoul, South Korea; three sisters, Kathy (Dan) Cantonwine of Vinton, Coleen (Mark) Driscoll of Cedar Falls and Eileen (Scott) Melohn of Clarksville; nieces, Tara (Zach), Shawna, Samantha and Melissa; nephews, Michael (Jessica), Stephen, David, Joshua and Justin; great-nieces. Alyssa and Emily; and a great-nephew, Tracker; as well as his close friends, including Steve Droste and Jon Petersen.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents.
