BETTY SORENSEN

Betty Jean Dahl Sorensen died April 18, 2015.
She was born Feb. 16, 1927, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Clara and John Dahl. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in art from Coe College in Cedar Rapids. She married Wayne Sorensen (also of Cedar Rapids) on Sept. 12, 1948, and soon after moved to Arkansas. While raising children, she continued her education earning a master's degree in counseling from Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Ark.
Betty taught many students over 25 years in Arkansas. She taught a wide variety of subjects including math, English, P.E., Spanish, art, geography, bookkeeping and typing.
Betty leaves three daughters and their families to treasure her memory, Janet and Michael Sheets of Kaysville, Utah; Joy and Dennis Nentrup of Burleson, Texas, and their children, Laura and Nick; and Jill and Robert Frost of Benton, La., and their children, Trey and Katie.
Also remembering her loving spirit are several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, who died seven months ago; as well as her mother, father and two sisters, Helen and Eleanor.
Betty's life will be celebrated with a memorial service at 10 a.m. Monday, May 11, at the DeQueen United Methodist Church, DeQueen, Ark.
