Betty Florence Pettlon, 91, of Delhi, died Friday, June 19, 2015, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 29, at Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Earlville, where family will greet friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Delhi.
Betty is survived by a nephew, Mick (Sharon) Jones; special friends, Joe Keith, Tom and Diane Gatto, Dan and Sheran Gatto and Ray Reth; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert, in 1993; her parents; and a brother, Forrest Jones.
Betty was born Sept. 21, 1923, in Delhi, Iowa, the daughter of John and Gladys (Duart) Jones. Betty was raised in Delhi and was a 1941 graduate of Delhi High School. Betty married Gilbert "Gib" Pettlon on Jan. 8, 1943, in Delhi. They were lifelong sweethearts and were raised only two miles apart. The two began going together at 16. Betty was a homemaker and also worked as a librarian for a few years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Delhi Public Library in Betty's memory.
