Betty Jean McNeal, 93, of Marion, died Friday, Sept. 29, 2017, at her home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday. Per Betty's request, the casket will be closed at all times.
Survivors include her daughter, Vicki Thompson of Marion; six grandchildren, Travis (Lisa), Barry (Lindy), Bryan (Maria), Joseph, Richard (Denise) and Steve (Teresa); two granddaughters, Robin (Barry) and Melissa (Ron); and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a grandson, Curtis; and a son-in-law, Gary.
Betty was born Aug. 25, 1924, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Willard and Tillie Cisler Chadima. She married Howard L. McNeal on Feb. 22, 1972, in Cedar Rapids. Howard died in 1998.
Betty worked at various jobs, including Wilson and Co. She was a member of Daughters of the Nile and United States Humane Society and a life member of the Shriners. Betty enjoyed playing golf, bowling, going to the casino and especially the time spent with her beloved family and many friends. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
