Mrs. Betty Lee Duff of Cedar Rapids passed away peacefully following a brief illness on Sept. 17, 2016. She was 90 years old and still had her wits about her.

In 1948, she married the love of her life, Robert Earl Duff Jr., and the two would be married for almost 50 years. They raised four children together: Marci, Debbie, Jeffrey and Bob, all of whom preceded their mother in death. Betty loved her family more than anything in the world. When

told "We love you," she would always reply, "love you more."

Originally from Oklahoma, she grew up in Clay City, Ill., and came to Cedar Rapids when her husband got a job at Collins Radio. She would live the last 16 years of her life in quiet dignity at Cottage Grove Place.

She was an avid reader, particularly Danielle Steel, and with her went the family's famous pie crust recipe.

She is survived by her son-in-law, Brian Gilchrist of Ann Arbor, Mich.; two grandchildren, Thomas and Patrick Gilchrist; and granddaughter-in-law, Diana Rosenberger. She also is survived by her brother-in-law, Gary Clark of Clay City, Ill.; nephews, Wesley, Steve, Jack, Brad, David and Ron Payne of Louisville, Ill.; and nieces, Mary K., Vicki, Denise, Sandi and Tamara.

In addition to her four children and her husband, Betty was preceded in death by all of her siblings, Everett and Donald Miller, Cleta Mae Payne, Juanita Miller and Edna Sue Clark.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Sedlacek Hall at Cottage Grove Place (2115 First Ave. SE) on Friday, Oct. 21, from 2 to 4 p.m.
