Betty J. Leaf, 87, a resident of Crestview Acres in Marion, died there Monday, April 28, 2014, after a long illness. Services at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Entombment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include two sons, Elden (Susan) of Stuart, Fla., and David of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Marla (Bill) Herren of Cedar Rapids; and a brother, Marvin (Iris) Wells of
Eagle Grove.
She is also survived by six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and one sister.
Betty was born Dec. 19, 1926, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Leslie and Irene Simson Wells. She married Cecil E. Leaf on March 20, 1946, in Marion. Cecil passed away in 2011.
Betty was a homemaker and a former member of the Four Square Church in Anamosa. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and canning her delicious pickles. Betty loved children, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother whose memory will be
cherished by all who knew and loved her.
