Betty Lahue, 96, died Thursday, April 28, 2022, at the ABCM Rehabilitation Center in Independence, Iowa. Services: 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 5, at Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home in Vinton. Burial: Urbana Cemetery, Urbana, Iowa. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
Betty is survived by three daughters, Catherine Hoppe, Terry Manning and Sandi (Steve) Elgin; son, Tracy (Debb) Lahue; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-great-grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Harley; 10 siblings; two grandchildren; two sons-in-law; and one daughter-in-law.
Betty was born on Dec. 5, 1925, in rural Urbana, the daughter of Isaac and Erma (Wheeler) Boyles. On Oct. 15, 1943, she was united in marriage to Harley Lahue and became a lifelong resident of Urbana. Betty was employed by Micro Switch in Independence for several years and then worked at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids until she retired in the mid 1980s.
Betty enjoyed gardening, crafting and participating in the Farmer's Market in Urbana. After her husband's death, she continued his hobby of harvesting and selling bait worms. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 51 years.
A memorial fund has been established.
