Betty is survived by her children, Gary Stallman (Nancy) of Norway, Diane Koopman of Cedar Rapids, Richard (Ginger) Stallman of Norway, and Julie Stallman (Bob) of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren, Heather King (Troy), Shannon (Cari) Stallman, Shane Stallman, Shannon and Shane’s mother Debbie, Jennifer (Joel) Hansen, Jeremy (Amelia) Driscoll, Stone (Marie) Stallman, Parker (Kelsey) Stallman and Calvin (Danielle) Voelker; eight great-grandchildren, Blake (Julie) Stallman, Jaden, Kelsey, Kaitlyn Stallman, Jacob and Joshua Hansen, Jules and Maverick Driscoll; great-great-grandchild, Kingston Hansen, with two on the way; brother, Dennis Rosdail of Carroll.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Dick” Stallman; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and James Haberle; stepson, Donald Peacock; son-in-law, Theodore Koopman; granddaughter, Jacqueline Voelker; brother, Donald Rosdail; sisters, Mary Gerhold Neuhaus and Janet Schanbacher.
Betty was born on Oct. 26, 1923, the daughter of Calvin and Opal (Tow) Rosdail in Cedar Rapids. Betty attended and graduated from Roosevelt High School. She married Richard “Dick” Stallman on April 18, 1944, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Fairfax.
Betty enjoyed being a farm wife in the town of Norway where her husband Richard “Dick” farmed for most of their lives until his death in 1984, and when crops were finished, they loved to venture to Arizona to visit family. She also enjoyed working time to time at Hope’s Bridal Boutique. After her husband’s death, you would find her enjoying many outings with her four close friends known at the Golden Girls, spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Betty spent lot of the time in Georgia with daughter, Nancy, enjoying the beauty of Lake Lanier. During Betty’s later years she lived with and was cared for by daughters Diane and Julie, splitting her stay between the two of them. Betty was the heart of our family; she will be missed dearly. We were so blessed to have her with us as long as we did.
Instead of flowers, memorial may be directed to St. Luke’s Hospice or the Norway American Legion Post #234.
