Betty Jean Lange was born in Cedar Rapids on May 5, 1930, the daughter of Leslie and Geraldean (Glessner) Lange. She attended Cedar Rapids community schools and on Sept. 21, 1947, she married Erwin Lowe. He preceded her in death in 2015. Betty was employed at the Reliance Shirt Factory, Custis Service, Watkins Department Store and as the head cook at the Anamosa High School, serving there for over 20 years. She retired in 1992.
She enjoyed garage sales, playing cards, attending dances with Erwin, cooking and baking, gardening and travel. Above all else she lived for her family – her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those remembering her are her children, Karen (Gary) Sievers, Wyoming, Sharon Butterfield, Vinton, Tamara (Tim) Diesburg, Anamosa, and Douglas Lowe, Grimes; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sandra (Allen) Bressler, Cedar Rapids.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter-in-law, Jennifer Lowe, in 2017; and a son-in-law, Dale Butterfield, in April of this year.
Betty's family would like to thank the staff of the Anamosa Care Center and Dr. Charles Vernon for their wonderful care.
