Betty was born Sept. 13, 1944, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Philip and Berniece (Shaffer) Hand. She graduated from Center Point High School, class of 1962. Betty married Larry McBurney on May 3, 1964, in Toddville. She worked at Toyota Financial before her retirement in 2010. Betty played a longtime, supportive role to the Monroe Township Fire Department family. Betty enjoyed dancing, cooking and feeding whoever came through the door. Her laugh was contagious and she was a joy to be around, Betty loved life! Above all she loved spending time with her family.
Betty is survived by her husband, Larry, of 57 years; her children, Kale (Tina) McBurney and Kala Liebe; grandchildren, Kaleb (Harley) McBurney, Kean McBurney, Kalina McBurney, Dylan (Madison Chandler) Liebe and DeLoss (Bekah) Liebe; great-grandchildren, McCoy Liebe and Wayne McBurney; and by her sisters Phyllis (Kenny) Jones and Rosemary (Mitch) Robinson.
