BETTY HENRY
Cedar Rapids
Betty Arlene Henry, 92, was born March 3, 1925, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Harold and Havana Meyer. She married Herbert R. Henry on May 17, 1947. They had two children, Russell Lee Henry and Penny Louise Henry Kacere. Russell Lee Henry predeceased her, along with her husband, Herbert R. Henry. She has one granddaughter, Lisa Marie Koury of Cedar Rapids. Her daughter currently lives with her husband, Ken Kacere, in Scarborough, Maine.
Betty lived in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and worked as a church secretary for over 30 years. She moved to Scarborough, Maine, in 1999 to be closer to her daughter and son-in-law. She bought a condo and made lunch for her daughter every day for 14 years, except weekends, when she spent time at the Kacere residence.
They took her on many vacations over the years. She loved to watch tennis on TV and MSNBC.
In 2015, she moved into Atlantic Heights assisted living until October 2016, when she moved to Seal Rock, where she was taken care of by the wonderful staff there until her passing on April 21, 2017, at 3:15 p.m.
She will be missed by a lot of people in Iowa and Maine.
Donations can be made to the ALS Association (www.alsa.org) in honor of her husband, who died of ALS, when he was 64 years of age.
Private family services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral and Cremation, 365 Main St., Saco, Maine, is entrusted with the arrangements.
