Betty Jane Goodrow, 89, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, in her home at Cottage Grove Place. Services: Private at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by sons, Curtis and Robert; grandchildren, Eric and Stephanie Karr and Jaclynn Hiranaka; and a nephew, Bill Holes.
She was preceded in death by husband, Everett Eugene; her parents, Robert and Myrtle; her son, Gene Jr.; daughter, Carol Ann; and a sister, Florence Holes.
Betty was born Aug. 8, 1925, in Ambridge, Pa. She married Everett Eugene Goodrow in Iowa City on Nov. 13, 1954. Betty moved to Iowa in 1954 to help raise four children of her best childhood friend, after her friend was killed in a car accident.
She enjoyed playing and beating her family at golf, backgammon, cards and bingo. She also enjoyed spending winters with her friends and her husband, Gene, in Florida. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was the most happy when spending time and doing things for her family. Betty was a member of Shueyville United Methodist Church.
