BETTY VIRGINIA CRAFT-JOHNSON

Betty Virginia Craft-Johnson, 96, of Shellsburg, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, April 22, 2016. By His grace, she met Him face to face. Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Baptist Church, Marion, by the Rev. Cecil R. Ballard. Burial: 1:30 p.m., Newton Union Cemetery, Newton. Friends may visit with the family Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Betty was born Jan. 29, 1921, in Colfax, the daughter of William and Fern Holdefer Gearhart. She married Loren Craft, who died in 1995. She married Leland Johnson in 2000, and was blessed with 16 very happy years together. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
Betty is survived by her husband, Leland. Loren and Betty were blessed with four daughters, Joyce (Max) Day of Marion, Mary Ann (Dwain) Drew of Des Moines, Alice Mae Parker of Longview, Wash., and Billie Jean (Tom) Scalise of Shellsburg; and a son, Don (Linda) Craft of Van Horne. Blessings continued with 11 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and three great- great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Loren C. Craft; a grandchild; seven sisters; and a brother.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to Grace Baptist Church or Hospice of Mercy.
