Beth A. Hiner, 72, of Springville, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at Pinicon Senior Living in Anamosa, Iowa. In agreement with her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service held, however, the family will greet friends at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, from 4 - 7 p.m. on Halloween, Thursday, October 31, 2024, which was her ultimate favorite holiday. A private family inurnment will take place at Springville Cemetery in Springville, Iowa.
Beth was born on February 21, 1952, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Edward Joseph and Wanda Mabel (Farmer) Bernacki. She was a 1970 graduate of Prairie High School. On November 30, 1984, Beth was united in marriage to Jacob “Jake” George Hiner in Springville. Beth was self-employed and showed her love of children through her in-home daycare, before retiring in 2021.
She was a former member of both the Springville Library Board and Springville Boosters Club. In her earlier years, she was also a Cub Scouts Den Mother and an organizer of the city-wide garage sales in Springville. Beth had an undying love for elephants and all things Halloween and displayed her creativity with her immaculate Christmas present wrapping, with custom bows. She was an avid baker and cake decorator. Beth enjoyed reading and watching movies, but her greatest joy was spending time with family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Beth is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband of 39 years, Jake Hiner of Springville; son, Kris Jacobs of Viola, Iowa; stepson, Jason (Karin) Martin-Hiner of Decorah, Iowa; stepdaughter, Melissa (Brian) Reynolds of Cedar Rapids; granddaughter, Kailee Jacobs; stepgrandchildren, Gabriel and Mikayla Hiner; siblings, Dave Bernacki of Cedar Rapids, Dan (Clara) Bernacki of North Liberty, Iowa, and Jessie Bernacki of Independence, Iowa; two stepbrothers, Terry Hite and Bruce (Amy) Hite; and a host of extended family members, including nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Wanda Bernacki; sister, Deborah Jo Stevens; stepmother, Doris Bernacki; and one stepbrother, Richard (Joyce) Hite.
In lieu of flowers, the family has respectfully requested that any memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association, Alzheimer’s Association, or to the Springville Library.
