Best, Robert 'Bob'
Robert “Bob” Best, 82, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Chicago, passed away on Monday, Aug. 13, 2012, after a lengthy illness. Private services will be held at a later date in Chicago.
Survivors include his son, Greg (Teresa) Best of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Kathy (David) Jameson of Bend, Ore.; and grandchildren, Allen and Michael Best and Sean and Crysti Jameson.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; and parents, Arthur and Sybil Best.
Bob grew up in the Sauganash neighborhood of Chicago and attended college in Bozeman, Mont. He married Barbara Shields and raised his family in Glenview, Ill. After Barbara's death, Bob moved to Lindenhurst, Ill., with his second wife, Sondra, to a house on a lake, which was always one of his dreams. Bob later moved to Florida and then Cedar Rapids.
Bob enjoyed many things in his younger days including motorcycles, radio control model airplanes, golf and other outdoor activities. In his later years, he took up painting, archery and target shooting. His paintings were exhibited several times at his retirement home in Iowa City.
Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.
