Bertha G. Hutton, 89, died peacefully Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014, at Living Center East, Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, where friends may call after 10 a.m. The Rev. Al Polito will officiate at the services.

Surviving is her daughter, Linda Dahl, Cedar Rapids; three granddaughters, Deb (Grant) Grimm, Vicky (Terry) Osten and Cindy (Scott) Bowser; four great-grandchildren, Lisa (Derek), Kate (Nick), Pat and friend Natasha and Adam and friend Janey; and two great-great-grandchildren, Derek Jr. and Koralynn.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl on Oct. 10, 1982; her son-in-law, Ken Dahl; three sisters, Eunice Tuel, Margaret Wilcox and Dorothy Sill; and a brother, Orville William (Bill) Boxwell.
Bertha G. Boxwell was born May 10, 1925, at Springville, Iowa. She was the daughter of Charles Lennox and Ethel Mae Wiles Boxwell. Bertha attended the Springville Community Schools. She married Carl Hutton on July 10, 1949, at Marshalltown, Iowa. The couple lived near Olin and later Scotch Grove until 1958, when they moved to Monticello.
Bertha was a baby sitter for many families in Monticello. She enjoyed her walks around Monticello and visiting with the people she encountered. Bertha was a resident at Edinburg Manor for a number of years and moved to Living Center East in 2008.
