Berniece Greiner, 91, of Iowa City, died Sunday, April 27, 2014, at the Crestview Nursing and Rehab Center in West Branch. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. There will be a period of visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service.

Berniece Greiner was born Aug. 16, 1922, in West Branch, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas and Sena (Christensen) Sorensen. She attended West Branch schools, graduating in 1940. She was united in marriage Robert Kofron in 1940, becoming the parents of four children. The family moved to Iowa City in 1960. She worked for three years at Montgomery Ward, then over 20 years for Procter & Gamble. She married John Greiner of Persia, Iowa, and they made their home in Minden, Iowa, for over 25 years. Following his death in 2007, she retired to Iowa City to be closer to her
children.
Her family includes three children, Robert Kofron II (Deb) of Hillsdale, Ill., Janet Luna of North Liberty and Dale Kofron (Joyce) of Iowa City; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Carol Kofron; three brothers; and one sister.
