Bernice (Nickell) Commers was born July 28, 1914, in Wellman, Iowa. She passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2021, at Parkview Manor in Wellman at the age of 106.
She is survived by three children, Nancy (Gene) Scott of Wellman, Bill (LaVerna) Nickell of Wellman and Linda (Tom) Winterburn of Corinth, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Carol Glass, Donna Ford, David Scott, Jeff Capper, Eric Capper, Lisa Cole, James Nickell, Todd Winterburn, Scott Winterburn and Kristi Kersey; and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Celebration of Life service will be 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2021, at the First Baptist Church in Wellman. The service will be livestreamed on our Facebook page or website. Burial is in the Wellman Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman. Please practice social distancing and masks are required. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church or Wellman Senior Dinning. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
