Bernice A. Hamer, 89, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Dec. 1, 2015, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Visitation will be Tuesday, Dec. 8, at 9:30 a.m., with a service following at 10:30, both held at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. A committal will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Bernie was born June 18, 1926, to Albert and Lottie (Griffith) Brown in Waubeek, Iowa. She married Walter Hamer in 1954; they shared many memories together until his passing in 1991. She then married Delmer in 2002.
Bernie loved to be with family and loved music and dancing.
Left to cherish Bernice's memory are a sister, Ramona; Larry (Teri) Graw; many grand-children, nieces and nephews; her care family, Kelly, Richard and Daniel; and her special pet friends, Thorbert, Nugget, Wiggles and Jack, the cat.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; four brothers; and five sisters.
A special thank-you to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy and to Kelly, Richard and Daniel for the exceptional and loving care they gave to Bernice.
