Bernard E. Andrew, 85, of Mechanicsville, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021, at the Clarence Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at
10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lowden, with the Rev. Daniel Redhage officiating. The family requests masks be worn. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will follow in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
Bernard was born Oct. 20, 1935, in Mendota, Mo., to Frank and Dulcie White Andrew. He married Berneta Lunow on Sept. 19, 1954, in Unionville, Mo.
Bernard is survived by his wife; daughter, Kerin (Steve) Robinson of Mechanicsville; son, Kevin (Sandra) Andrew of Claremore, Okla.; grandchildren, Bronson Andrew, Brandon Robinson, Taryn Kuntz and Bergen Andrew; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Delmar; and sisters, Violet Young and Linda (Richard) Abbott.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lloyd and Jim; and sisters, Geraldine, Betty, Lavinnia and Hazel.
Bernard was a lifelong farmer who farmed the ground while also raising hogs. In his earlier years, he enjoyed traveling, which included road trips with friends, and hunting and fishing. He also held many offices in the Lutheran Church at that time. Bernard liked to do things with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and also watch westerns. Watching Hawkeyes sports with his wife was also something he enjoyed.
