Bernard Buol, 78, of Centerton, Ark., formerly of Monticello and Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, at Circle of Life Hospice in Benton-ville, Ark., following an extended illness. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello.

Bernard Buol was born Dec. 27, 1936, in Anamosa, Iowa, the son of Raymond (Jack) and Mildred Doden Buol. Bernard graduated from Monticello Community Schools. He then farmed in the Monticello area before moving to Swisher. Bernard worked for the College Community School District, Cedar Rapids, for several years.
Bernard married Evelyn Hessenius Zamastil on Jan. 22, 1977, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. Bernard was employed at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids as the assistant farm manager in the agriculture program. He was employed there from 1979 until 1990, when he and Evelyn moved to Arkansas. Bernard worked for Vas Ambulance Service as a driver for a number of years and also as a truck driver.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; three children, Kevin, Nixon, Mo., Kathy Parmely, South Dakota, and Kolleen Buol, Cedar Rapids; a stepson, Bob Zamastil, Colorado; five grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother, James of Atalissa; and a sister, Cindy Nus, Arlington.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Loren and Jerry.
