Berkley, James R.
James R. Berkley, 60, of Iowa City, died Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center from complications of mesothelioma. Services and burial will be at a later date. Arrangements are with Lensing Funeral Service.
In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute to the charity of their choice.
Jim was born Nov. 8, 1949, in Clinton, Iowa. He served in Vietnam with the U.S. Navy. On Dec. 23, 1992, he married Lodema Pryor in Guthrie Center, Iowa. Jim was in semi sales with Truck Country in Cedar Rapids until his retirement in 2007.
Survivors include his wife, Lodema of Iowa City; two children, Jason (Cindy) Berkley of Indianola and Matthew (Angela) Berkley of Osceola; two stepchildren, Emily (Yancey) Forkner of Iowa City and Kevin (Mindi) Slaybaugh of Waukee; six grandchildren and stepgrandchildren; and his siblings, Don (Peggy) Gordon, Nancy (Jerry) Armstrong, Tom (Diane) Berkley and Paul Berkley.
