Bergmann, Lavern
Lavern Bergmann, 92, of Clarence, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010, in the Clarence Nursing Home. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Johns United Church of Christ, Clarence, with the Rev. David Mears officiating. Lavern donated his body to University of Iowa Department of Anatomy. Family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until services at the church Saturday. Arrangements with Chapman Funeral Home, Clarence.
Survivors include his wife, Rosalyn; daughters, Diane (Carrol) Miller of Plato, Texas, and Julie (Wayne) Chapman of Springville; sons, David of Marion, and Brian (Becky) of Clarence; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He as preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Norman.
Lavern was born Sept. 16, 1918, in rural Clarence, to George and Augusta Helmold Bergmann. He married Rosalyn Meewes on May 3, 1941, at Memphis, Mo.
Lavern was a retired farmer. He had served on the Clarence School board, Clarence Telephone Co. board, D.H.I.A. board, Cedar County Assessor board of revue and St. Johns church council.
