Berger, George A.
George A. Berger, 93, of Norway, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, at Colonial Manor of Amana in Amana. Memorial Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Walford, with the Rev. David Mosher officiating. Inurnment: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, at the church. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial fund has been established.
George is survived by two sisters, Carolyn Craw of Las Vegas, Nev., and Violet Olds and husband Charlie of Davenport; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Max and Richard; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn and Joyce Berger; and a brother-in-law, Nelson Craw.
George Arnold Berger was born April 9, 1919, in South Amana, Iowa, the son of Arnold Fredrick Berger and Bertha Caroline Graesser Berger. He attended rural Walford schools. George was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Walford.
He loved the outdoors and farming. His faith was strong and he enjoyed working for his church, much of the time without anyone's knowledge that it was being accomplished.
He cherished his family and enjoyed the time he spent with them.
