Beresford, Janelle
Janelle Beresford, 90, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, at Windsor Manor in Vinton. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, at the Vinton Presbyterian Church with Pastor Gene Spicer officiating. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. Sixth St., Vinton. Memorials may be left for the Vinton Presbyterian Church.
Janelle was born Sept. 13, 1922, the youngest child of Roy M. and Maza (Wyckoff) Dunston in rural Vinton. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Vinton. She was united in marriage to Glenn S. Beresford on Aug. 25, 1940 at the Lutheran Parsonage in Keystone.
Janelle worked at the AAA office while her husband served overseas during World War II. More recently, she had worked over 15 years in the office of the Benton County Assessor, retiring in 1984. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, serving on the Memorial Committee. She was also a member of the Lutheran Home Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Eagles Auxiliary, the Early Arts Study Club and served on the Care Review Committee of the Vinton Lutheran Home.
Janelle was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. The joy of her life was her son, Bruce, her three granddaughters and her great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Bruce (Elizabeth McGavin) Beresford of Lyons, Colo.; her granddaughters, Michelle (Clinton) Howe of Spokane, Wash., Melissa (Quentin) Crawford of Centennial, Colo. and Meagan Beresford of Longmont, Colo.; and her great-grandchildren. Taylor Howe, Alika Crawford and Quentin Crawford.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glenn in 2003; her brother, Clifford Lyle Dunston; and her sister, Lorna Banse.
