Berdena Mardell Grimm, 93, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022, surrounded by her children. A visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 17, at Springs of Life Church, 2300 26th St. NW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Burial will follow at Linwood Cemetery in Cedar Rapids. A luncheon will follow the burial at Springs of Life Church.
Berdena was born June 13, 1928, the daughter of Clarence and Hazel (Thumm) Hill, in Illinois. On Sept. 3, 1960, Berdena was united in marriage to Lloyd "Dick" Grimm. Berdena worked as a secretary and legal secretary in many cities, including Anchorage, Alaska. Berdena enjoyed camping, sewing, dancing and most of all, worshiping and spending time with the Lord. Berdena was known for her love of her children, grandchildren, great-grands, and those she recognized as "her kids." We will miss her favorite expressions, "wowee," "hey sweetie" and "Mamaw loves you".
Survivors include her children, Korri Westen of Solon, Bradley (Sandy) Grimm of Cedar Rapids and Jaleda (Marty) Schminkey of Independence; grandchildren, Derek, Brock, Travis, Ronaka, Austin, Zebediah, Tristan and Joziah; 11 great-grandchildren; her sister, Donna Kruckenberg of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Hazel Hill; and her husband of 51 years, Lloyd "Dick" Grimm.
