Benzinger, Jack M.
Jack M. Benzinger, 85, of Marion, passed away Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012. Per Jack's request there will be no service. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his daughters, DiAnna Rucker of Marion and Jacqueline (Mike) Sirota of Oceanside, Calif.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sister, Ellen Ellis of Cedar Rapids.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Carol J. Benzinger; and parents, Jacob and Gretchen Benzinger.
Jack married Carol Dimond on Sept. 13, 1947, in Cedar Rapids. He worked at Cryovac in Cedar Rapids for 35 years and retired as superintendent in 1988.
Jack loved helping people, and spent hundreds of hours as an advocate for the elderly. Jack enjoyed bowling, especially after he met Carol, who had worked at the bowling alley. He loved crossword puzzles and playing jokes on his daughters and grandchildren.
Jack always had a twinkle in his eye, and he was full of life and love for his family.
Jack was a wonderful and caring husband, brother, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
