Bennett, Ivan 'Ike' Dale

Ivan “Ike” Dale Bennett, 82, passed away Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, in Cedar Rapids, surrounded by his loving family.

Ike was born Dec. 2, 1929, in Shullsburg, Wis., to Andrew and Helga (Magneson) Bennett. The Bennett family moved from New Diggings, Wis., to Cedar Rapids in 1942. Ike graduated from Franklin High School in 1948. Ike worked for more than 30 years at Iowa Manufacturing and retired in 1991.

Ike liked photography and was an avid Cedar Rapids Kernels baseball fan. He enjoyed family gatherings, including spending time with his many nieces and nephews, and he loved to laugh and tell humorous stories.

Ike is survived by two sisters, Pauline Lowe (Don) and Betty Graham (Don); and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Norman, Willard, Willis, Paul and an infant brother.

Family services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Services are under the direction of Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Instead of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society of Cedar Rapids or the charity of your choice.
