Bennett, Berniece G. Zimmer
Berniece G. Zimmer Bennett, 101, of Tipton, died Saturday at 1:45 a.m. at Cedar Manor Nursing Home, Tipton. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 29, at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, Tipton. Burial will follow in Tipton Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton.
Berniece was born Sept. 6, 1910, in Neola, Iowa, to Royal M. and Elsie Lee Jones Zimmer. She was a 1927 graduate of the Ida Grove High School and received her Public School music degree from Iowa State Teachers College in 1931. Berniece was united in marriage to Ralph Stephen Bennett on June 1, 1935, in Otho, Iowa.
Berniece was a music teacher, mother, housewife and bookkeeper for the family business, Bennett Plumbing & Heating, in Tipton. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church, Tipton Study Club, Child Conservation League, Mary Martha Circle, and Cecelians Glee Club, all of Tipton.
Berniece is survived by her daughter, Karen L. Hux of Hunt, Texas; her son, Stephen and wife Ann of Littleton, Colo.; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband who died Feb. 2, 1988.
A memorial has been established for the First United Methodist Church.
