BENJAMIN “BEN” ALAN KING
Pelham, Ala.
Benjamin "Ben" Alan King, 47, of Pelham, Ala., passed away Oct. 12, 2021.
There will be a Celebration of Life from 4 to 8 p.m. Dec. 20, at Prairie Oak Lodge Wanatte Park, 4201 Big Bluestem Dr., Marion, Iowa
(Squaw Creek).
Ben was born Sept. 7, 1974, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and lived most of his life in Marion, Iowa. Ben was a 1993 graduate of Marion High School.
Ben is survived by his wife, Kris, and his daughter, Avery; his parents, Tim (Karen) King and Julie (John) Brown; his sisters, Carrie King, Kristi (Chris) Schmerbach, Kristin (Fred) Parrott, Jennifer Wilson and Andrea (Jay) Wilson; his brothers, Danny (Jessica) King, Micah (Katie) Brown and Seth (Brittaney) Brown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ben was preceded in death by his loving grandparents, Ivan and Edith King, Ed and Loretta Meader; and uncle, Al.
Ben worked as a project manager of heavy highway construction in the northwest.
Ben was a loving husband, father, son and brother. Ben adored his daughter, Avery, most of all. Ben was kind and generous. He was firm in his beliefs. He did a great job living every day for the day. Ben had a broad sense of humor. His worth ethic was impeccable and his passion for hunting, fishing, and trapping took him from the Gulf to the Artic.
Ben's high school and collegiate career earned him All-American status in football, four trips to the Drake relays and State track meets. Work hard and play hard was how he lived his adventurous life.
Ben will be greatly missed.
