Benesh, Charles S.
Charles S. Benesh, 83, of Mountain Home, Ark., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, July 3, 2010, at Hospice of the Ozarks in Mountain Home after a long illness. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 14, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Burial, with military rites: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his daughter, Stacy Benesh and her partner, Janet Weilbrenner, of West Plains, Mo.; a son, Scott Benesh and his wife, Patti, of Spring, Texas; and a sister, Maxine Lanning and her husband, Arnold, of Cedar Rapids.
He is also survived by two granddaughters, Karina Benesh of Los Angeles, Calif., and Kyra Benesh of Spring, Texas; and a special friend, Ramona Jenson of Mountain Home, Ark.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a brother, Richard Benesh.
Charles was born Aug. 11, 1926, in Walker, Iowa, the son of Samuel and Nora Reid Benesh. He married Jo Ann Bentien on July 28, 1956, in Monona, Iowa. She died June 19, 2006. Charles worked at Cherry Burrell for 42 years, retiring in 1989. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran, 25th Mechanized Cavalry Reconnaissance Troop. He was a member of the NRA and the Izaak Walton League. He enjoyed the outdoors, trap shooting and especially time spent with his many friends and beloved family.
Memorial donations may be given in Charles's name to Hospice of the Ozarks – Mountain Home, 701 Burnett Dr., Mountain Home, AR 72653.
