Bender, Imogene K.
Imogene K. Bender, 96, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sept. 30, 2012, at the Vinton Lutheran Home.
Imogene was born Aug. 2, 1916, to Fred and Agusta (Rieck) Peterman and raised in Luzerne, Iowa. She married Earl W. Bender on Nov. 24, 1938. Imogene was a teacher, beautician and a homemaker. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, cross stitch, crochet, traveling and spending time with her family.
Survivors are daughter, Earlene (Douglas) Francik, and their children. Christopher (Sue) and Brian (Tami) Francik; son, James Bender. and his children, Brian, Shawn (Joy), Kim (Richard) and Stephanie (John); and great-grandchildren, Becca, Megan, Dylan, Lucas, Ben, Sam and Madisyn.
Imogene was preceded in death by her husband and daughter-in-law, Lynda.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be held Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m.
