Belva Mae Beck, 89, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, at the Meth-Wick Community following an unexpected sudden illness. Services: 10 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church by the Rev. Sherrie Ilg and the Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer. Burial: Silver Creek Cemetery near Troy Mills, Iowa. Friends may visit with the family on Friday at the church after 9 a.m. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Belva is survived by four children, Dorothy Beck (Bill Archer) of Cedar Rapids, Daniel Beck (Kim Jacobs-Beck) of Hamilton, Ohio, David (Karen) Beck of Richardson, Texas and Gloria (Mark) Wallman of Sturgis, Mich.; six grandchildren, Tiffany, Corissa (Kenneth), Raymond, Jonathan, Miranda and Viktoria; and eight great-grandchildren, Kaidence, Gracie, Lanie, Kamaria, Alexis, Kenneth Jr., Kendra and Abriella.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward; daughter, Janet; and three brothers, Clarence, Clifford and Don.
Belva was born on Dec. 26, 1925, in Linden, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Martha Wilder Harper. She married Edward Beck on Aug. 27, 1958, in Montebello, Calif. Belva was a piano teacher for many years.
Belva was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids Music Teachers Association and Toastmasters. She will be remembered for her compassion and for her service work at the church.
