Bellamy, Amy
Amy Bellamy, 50, of Anamosa, passed away Sept. 26, 2013, of natural causes.
Loving daughter of James and Joyce Bellamy (Mount Vernon), Amy Bellamy was born native to Iowa, attended Mount Vernon High School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in business from the University of Iowa.
During her life she lived both in Iowa and Illinois, the latter where she raised her children. She has two brothers, Jonathan and Christopher, both of whom currently live in or near their parents' hometown of Mount Vernon.
As a young woman she performed volunteer services at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids for elderly and terminal patients. A great swimmer, she was also a lifeguard at the Mount Vernon pool. After college and marriage, she worked as a claims adjuster for Combined Life Insurance of Chicago until deciding to become a stay-at-home mom to raise her children, as Amy said, “the right way.”
A few years after the birth of her youngest child, she returned to part-time work at Skrudland Photo, a job she truly enjoyed. Her passion and hobby was photography. She returned to Eastern Iowa, where she was involved in community organizations specializing in women's needs. She lived in Anamosa with her longtime companion, Alan, until her final days. She left us peacefully and without pain.
She is survived by her mother, Joyce Bellamy; father, James Bellamy; brothers, Christopher Bellamy and Jonathan (Kristen) Bellamy; nephews, Andrew and Aaron; niece, Katy; and her four children, Alexander-Winfield Groeper, Ashley-Rose Groeper, Krysta Nicole Groeper and Benjamin Maxwell Groeper, all currently living with their father, Gregory George near Chicago. She was a loving partner, mother, aunt and daughter. She was a friend to many and an inspiration to all.
Services will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids, by Certified Celebrant Julie Freese. Friends and family may call from noon until service time and then after the service until 5 p.m. at the chapel. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids.
