Bell, Reva M.
Reva M. Bell, 77, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Entombment: Linwood Mausoleum, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Randy (Julie) Abernathy of Marshalltown, Greg (Naida) Abernathy of Marshalltown, Glena (Robert) Clarke of Lowden, Deana Porter of Cedar Rapids and Tarol (Clayton) Black of Cedar Rapids; stepchildren, Joette (Less) Godith and Grace (Rick) Stout, both of Washington state; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Pat Clark of Cedar Rapids.
Reva was preceded in death by her parents; husband, “Pete”; and great-grandson, Joel Abernathy.
Born Aug. 3, 1933, in Marshalltown, Iowa, Reva was the daughter of Harold and Dorothy (Sisco) Nichols. Reva attended school in Marshalltown and at Roosevelt High School in Cedar Rapids. In 1952, she married Gerald Abernathy at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They later divorced. She married Gilbert “Pete” Bell in 1970. Reva retired in 2001, after packing for various moving companies.
Reva was a member of American Legion Hanford Post 5 Auxiliary, the Eagles Club and the Solos Club.
Reva's family was her life. Reva was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved cooking and baking, especially around the holidays for family and friends. She enjoyed making wine and competing in wine contests and sharing her winning wines with family and friends. Other passions include working in her flower garden, feeding the squirrels and watching it rain with all of the grandkids.
Reva touched many lives and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
