Belekevich, Nancy Lee

Nancy Lee Belekevich, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, 64, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2012. Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories.

Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Larry, her sons, Thomas L. (Robert Maulin) Belekevich of Atenas, Costa Rica, and Andrew A. (Tiffany) Belekevich of Cedar Rapids; her siblings, Bonnie (Harold) Albright of Peshtigo, Wis., Judy (Neal) Piotrowski of Green Bay, Wis., Larry (Jane) Huempfner of Athelstane, Wis., William Huempfner Jr. of Wausaukee, Wis., and Daniel (Nona) Huempfner of Green Bay, Wis.; and her grandchildren, Dylan T. Belekevich and Avery M. Belekevich, both of Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Randy.

Nancy Lee was born July 20, 1948, in Norway, Mich., the daughter of William and Marie (Namchuk) Huempfner. She married Larry Belekevich on March 1, 1969, in Wausaukee, Wis. Nancy Lee worked for many years in social and community services before retiring from United Way of Cedar Rapids.

Nancy had an adventurous spirit and found peace and inspiration in nature. She enjoyed every opportunity to explore the world, from her backyard in the Midwest to the Pacific Northwest and Canada - and always looked forward to her yearly escape from the winter, visiting her sons in Costa Rica. Throughout her travels in life, Nancy made friends wherever she went - a result of her selflessness, kindness and generosity. She and her husband volunteered at Meals on Wheels, where everyone looked forward to the smile she brought to their day. She brightened every room she entered and made people feel welcome and at ease. Her love was without limit for her family and she felt blessed to be a daily part of her grandchildren's lives. She will be dearly missed by all.
