Beitz, Galen
Galen Beitz, 78, of Hopkinton, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at the Beitz family farm east of Hopkinton, with his boots on. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12, at Hopkinton Community Church, with interment in Hopkinton Cemetery, with military honors. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m.Thursday at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello.
Surviving are four children, Carmela (Randy) Feldmann, Robert (Sarah), James (Ronna), all of Hopkinton, and Debra (Chris) Hoyme, Decorah; nine grandchildren, Daniel (Shawna) Beitz, William (Lori) Feldmann, Charles (Emily) Feldmann, Stephanie (Curtis) Knapp, Rachel Beitz, Jackie Hoyme, Jenna Beitz, Maria Hoyme and Kassie Hoyme; four great-grandchildren, Nathan and Tyler Beitz, Emma Feldman and Shaylynn Knapp; his brother, John Max (Carol) Beitz, Hopkinton; a sister, Geraldine (Raymond) Bley, Grand Junction, Colo.; three sisters-in-law, Claudia (Gordon) Keith, Mary Utley and Elizabeth Ulferts; a brother-in-law, Steven (Georgia) Haynes; and his good friend, Lucille Wilson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Eleanor.
