Behrens, Raymond H.

Raymond H. Behrens, 56, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Rock Island, Ill., passed away Sept. 24, 2012, following a battle with cancer. Memorial Service: 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at Ellis Park, Cedar Rapids. Burial at a later date: Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery.

Survivors include his special companion, Maggie Hotz; daughter, Desirae (David) Nixon of Rock Island; father, Wendlyn Behrens Sr. of Milan, Ill.; brothers, Wendlyn (Betty) Behrens Jr. of Brookings, S.D., Clark (Ruth) Behrens of Rock Island and Doug Behrens of Milan; sister, Rita Ferguson of Winona Lake, Ind.; and a granddaughter, Destiny.

Also surviving are Maggie's children, Tammi, Tereasa (Marty) and Tara (Jean Louis); grandchildren, Wesley Jr., Demetreus, Jordan, Justin, Jessamyn, Anthony Jr., Andrew, Johnny, Dixon, Marius and Agne; and six great-grandchildren.

Ray loved spending time with his family, especially his Maggie and Destiny. He enjoyed fishing, camping, old cars and living life his way.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathern; son, Dustin; sister, Bonnie; nephew, Christopher; and Maggie's granddaughter, Abigail.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
