Behan, Cecelia
Cecelia Behan, 79, passed away following a brief illness on Sept. 14, 2013, at Mercy Iowa City. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at All Saints Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, with visitation beginning at 9 a.m. The Rev. John Flaherty will be officiating the service. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, Sept. 17, from 4 to 7 p.m., with rosary service beginning at 4 p.m., at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Cecelia was born June 27, 1934, in Ryan, Iowa, the daughter of Clem and Ellen (Sheridan) Offerman. She married Louis Behan on April 23, 1957, in Masonville, Iowa. In 1966, the family moved to Cedar Rapids, where they became lifelong members of All Saints Catholic Church. Cecelia was an active member of the Women's Guild, Martha's and the Young at Heart. She enjoyed being an Avon representative for over 40 years.
Cecelia is survived by her four children, Steve Behan, Jane (Joe) Greiner, Linda Behan and Mary (Mark) Kurth; and four beautiful grandchildren, Matt and Jennifer Greiner and Nick and Michael Kurth.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Behan; her parents; four brothers, JC Offerman, Ralph Offerman, Dorrance Offerman and Cletus; and three sisters, Sister Mary Columba PBVM, Anna Burns and Clementine Young.
Cecelia had a passion for gardening and camping with her family. She loved to cook, bake and can vegetables. Cecelia really looked forward to her Tuesday meetings of the Holy Huddle.
