Becky Houska, 59, of Anamosa, Iowa, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2021, at her home after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 1, 2021, at the funeral home. Due to the current health pandemic, social distancing will be practiced and properly fitted face masks will be required at all time in the funeral home. Becky Kay Houska was born Oct. 12, 1961, in Monticello, Iowa, the daughter of Alan and Linda (Luker) Houska. She attended school in Anamosa. She was employed at area gas and convenience stores, most notably the Anamosa Travel Mart. She enjoyed fishing, but of most all cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, George Birely; children, Tara (Brian) Dietiker, Anamosa, Anthony (Kaytee) Houska, Monticello, Marvin (Julie) Birely, Marion, and Jeremy Birely, Mechanicsville; grandchildren, Rylan, Ashlyn, Brantley, Thomas, Elizabeth, Gabe, Makayla and Trista; her mother, Linda Luker, Anamosa; siblings, Debbie (Brian) Merritt, Dawn (Darin Sander) Wilson, Brian (Jenny) Houska and Angie Geltz, all of Anamosa, Warren (Debbie) Birely, Sherrad, Ill., Marvetta (Harold) Jones, Reynolds, Ill., Dale Birely, Utah, Gail (Lance) Berker, Milan, Ill., and Terry (Tommy) Kerr, Rock Island, Ill.; as well as by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father; her in-laws, Marvin and Delores Birely; a brother, John; and a son, Michael.
