Becker, Alvin H.
Alvin H. Becker, 89, of Tipton, died Sept. 15, 2010, at Cedar Manor Nursing Home. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20, at St. John's United Church of Christ, Clarence, with the Rev. David Mears. Burial: St. John's Cemetery, with graveside military rites by the Clarence American Legion. Visitation: 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the church. Arrangements with Chapman Funeral Home, Clarence.
Survivors include his wife, Leota; two daughters, Donna Oldorf of Cedar Rapids and Marian Mckee of Denver, Colo.; a son, Steven (Rita) of Stanwood; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Harlan and David; brother, Ralph; and three sisters, Norma Deerberg, Eleanora Burhop and Irene Conrad.
Born May 12, 1921, in Cedar County, Iowa, the son of Edwin and Anna (Kroeger) Becker, he married Leota Ford on Nov. 30, 1942, in Kahoka, Mo. Ralph farmed from 1946 to 1989 in rural Clarence before moving to Tipton in 1990. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of the Clarence American Legion and Tipton Moose Lodge.
