Beck, Phyllis A.
Phyllis A. Beck, 83, of Forsyth, Mo., formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed away Monday, May 7, 2012, at her home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 11, at Forsyth Whelchel Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Ozarks Memorial Park, Branson. Mo. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral chapel.
She was born April 3, 1929, at West Chester, Iowa, the daughter of Carl Harry and Sadie (Chorpening) Anderson. Phyllis graduated from Brighton High School, Brighton, Iowa. She was a legal secretary for several years, co-owner with her first husband of Pine Inn Truck & Restaurant, Cedar Rapids, and worked for Iowa-Illinois Gas & Electric for 15 years.
Phyllis married Arthur Beck on Dec. 24, 1970. They moved to Forsyth from Cedar Rapids, in May 1985, where she worked with her husband for Mid-Western Advertising. She was a member of Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church and a member of the Red Hatters.
Survivors include her husband, Arthur, who now resides in assisted living in Shellsburg; two daughters, Sherri L. Mahoney, of Cedar Rapids, and Sandra L. (Frank) Thompson of Forsyth; one brother, Richard Anderson and Nancy Sims, of Ottumwa; grandson, Shawn Bird of Cedar Rapids; stepson, Roger (Sandy) Beck of Shellsburg; and a very special nephew, Todd Anderson, of Newhall.
