Bechthold, Wayne K.
Wayne K. Bechthold, 73, of Liberty, Mo., formerly of Monticello, died Friday, April 29, 2011, at North Kansas City Hospital from cancer. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 14, at Garrison Cemetery, Garrison. Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, is in charge of the arrangements.
Surviving are his wife, Evelyn of Liberty, Mo.; his son, Michael of Monticello; three stepchildren, Jeff (Shelia) Schader, Terry Bell and Sherry (Jim) Hogan; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and his sister, Glenice Johnson of Vinton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bob and Eugene.
Wayne Karl Bechthold was born Dec. 12, 1937, at Garrison, Iowa. He was the son of Glenn and Loretta (Park) Bechthold. He graduated from the Garrison High School with the class of 1955. Wayne then enlisted in the United States Navel Reserve. Following his basic training he returned to civilian life and worked as a truck driver and truck mechanic. In Monticello he had been employed at Wright Way Feed and Cox Implement. He had also been a member of the Monticello Drill Team. Wayne later made his home in Missouri. He was an avid woodworker and a master with the scroll saw. He sold his creations at various art and craft shows. Wayne was a devoted member of the Corner Stone Apostolic Church, Kansas City, Kan.
