Beaty, Richard 'Dick'
Richard “Dick” Beaty, 83, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010, at home.
He will live on in the love and memories of his family: his wife, Beverly; three children, Richard (Mary) Beaty of Toronto, Kathleen (Jim) Siegling of Cedar Rapids and Diane (Rick) Naaktgeboren of Stone City; eight grandchildren, Robin (Adam) Mangold, Taran (Anita) Beaty, Angela (Tim) Hicks, Jason (Brenda) Naaktgeboren, Wendy (Josh) Yoder, Maev Beaty (Alan Dilworth), Erik (Tina) Naaktgeboren and Kim Byung Siegling; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Dick was born Dec. 28, 1926, the son of Marion and Pheobe (Franks) Beaty, in Marion. He served with the U.S. Navy from 1944-1946. On Jan. 10, 1946, he married Beverly Hover. Dick worked for Nelson Manufacturing for 31 years, which took him and Bev across the country, extending their family to all who were drawn to this loving couple.
He was active in Scouting for over 50 years, receiving the Silver Beaver Award and touching the lives of hundreds of Scouts.
Family and friends may gather for food and fellowship any time between 1 and 3 p.m. at Bakin Dining Hall at Camp Wakonda on Sunday, Nov. 21, followed by a memorial celebration at 3 p.m.
