Beardsley, Clarence L.
Clarence L. Beardsley, 86, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at Northbrook Manor Care, Cedar Rapids. Memorial visitation: 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 30, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his children, Stephen (Kathleen) Beardsley, Thomas (Anniejo) Beardsley and James Beardsley and Dusty, all of Cedar Rapids; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and half sister, Betty (Bill) Fetty of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joan; brother, Delbert; and half brother, Dick Lear.
Clarence was born April 9, 1924, the son of Elbert and Grace (Hissong) Beardsley, in Des Moines, Iowa. He served his country with the 8th Army Air Force during World War II. On March 14, 1948, he was united in marriage to Joan Warth in New London. Clarence worked at Hy-Vee Food Stores, retiring from there after many years of service.
He enjoyed woodworking, camping and fishing trips with his children.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in memory of Clarence.
