Beadle, Evelyn Harman
Evelyn Harman Beadle, 90, of Marion, died Monday, May 10, 2010, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, following an extended illness. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids. The Rev. Carroll Brown will officiate. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Inurnment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Surviving are her children, Doug Beadle of Cedar Rapids, Nancy Beadle of Marion, and Thomas Beadle of Los Angeles, Calif.; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; and siblings, Marvin Harman, Marjorie Nichols Starr and Robert Harman.
Evelyn was born Nov. 20, 1919, in rural Cedar Rapids, the daughter of N. Cecil and Mary (Kadlec) Harman. Following her graduation from McKinley High School, she was employed by Mercy Hospital and Kresge's Department Store. She then enjoyed several years of working at Hiltbrunner Music Co. She was united in marriage to Harold E. Beadle on Sept. 23, 1947, in Cedar Rapids. Harold preceded her in death in 2001. She was a lifetime resident of Linn County and was a member of the Creative Artists. She was a talented oil and watercolor artist.
Memorial donations in Evelyn's name may be made to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. David Kresnicka, Dr. Michael Brooks and the staffs of Mercy Medical Center and the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy for their extraordinary care and compassion.
